He built Cameyo from an idea into a globally deployed virtual application delivery platform, then sold it to Google. The Moment That Changed the Lens

When Google acquired Cameyo, the due diligence process was unlike anything a founder pitch deck prepares you for. Tier-1 acquirers do not buy narratives. They buy systems. They pull apart the unit economics, the architecture, the customer dependency structures, the decision-making infrastructure — and they form a clinical view of whether the asset is worth what the founder believes it is worth.

Most founders never get to sit on both sides of that table. Most advisors have not either.

What I walked away with was not just a successful exit. It was a framework for seeing companies the way institutional buyers see them — not through the lens of potential, but through the lens of physics. Does the math hold? Does the architecture scale without the founder? Does the product own something defensible, or is it a wrapper on someone else’s infrastructure?

I carried that lens into my advisory work at CPAG. And when the AI transition began accelerating in 2023 and 2024, I realized the same clinical framework applied — not just to the companies I was advising, but to the entire software industry.


Why I Started Writing This

The AI discourse has a binary problem.

On one side: the Utopians. AI replaces everything. Software is dead. Every company that does not pivot immediately will be disrupted out of existence within 18 months. Buy the hype, sell the incumbents.

On the other side: the Doomers. AI is overhyped. The infrastructure cannot support the promises. We have seen this before. Nothing fundamental is changing.

Both camps are wrong in ways that are going to be expensive for the people who believe them.

The Utopians are right that something structural is happening. They are wrong about the timeline, the mechanism, and who the winners will be. The Doomers are right to be skeptical of the hype cycle. They are wrong to dismiss the underlying re-platforming as noise.

The middle lane is where the actual analysis lives. We need more people operating there.

I started writing The Middle Way in AI because I kept having the same conversation, with founders, with investors, with operators trying to figure out what to do with their software businesses, and the conversation always started with the same problem. They were operating with a framework built for a world that was already changing underneath them.


What the Middle Way Framework Actually Is

The Middle Way is not a compromise position. It is a diagnostic one.

The core thesis: AI is a re-platforming event, not a replacement event. Software companies are not being displaced, they are being forced to convert. The ones that survive will stop selling workflows (UIs) and start functioning as High-Fidelity Repositories (structured, proprietary databases that an external LLM can navigate). The ones that do not make that conversion will commoditize.

Every piece published here applies that framework to a specific company, trend, market event, or piece of conventional wisdom. The analysis is always grounded in the same questions: What is the actual revenue pool? Where is it moving? Who owns the defensible data layer? And is the pricing model built for the world that exists now, or the world that existed in 2020?
